The Bedford Park Society (registered charity)

Planning and Listed Building Matters

As an amenity group affiliated to the Civic Trust, the Society’s aim is to protect the character of the area, to encourage the sympathetic design of alterations and additions, and to ensure owners appreciate the importance of boundary fences and mature trees in keeping the character of the street scene.

All planning submissions for work in the area are referred by the boroughs to the Society, which can draw on considerable experience and expertise in architectural, planning, traffic and other matters, including technical advice concerning repairs and maintenance. This help is freely available to members, who are advised to contact the Society prior to making planning applications.

§        From Knowledge Comes Care

The first phase of Society’s major, and indeed groundbreaking, initiative to provide a Logbook for each of Bedford Park’s Listed Buildings came to an end on Saturday 30th November 2002 with the delivery of a Logbook setting out the original design features including useful planning data such as the gate and fence designs originally used. A current-day photographic record of the exterior facades of the houses has been included. Please see From Knowledge Comes Care.
