Welcome to the Earliest Garden Suburb-

Bedford Park, Chiswick, London

Bedford Park is quite simply unique. The earliest garden suburb, its buildings were designed by the leading architects of the time and in and around its Stores, Church, Pub and Club writers, artists, actors and lawyers enjoyed an equally unique social scene.

A gate design in the style of E W Godwin.    Almost a village-like scene: Queen Ann's Gardens.      Ground floor window in E W Goodwin corner house.         The Yates lived in various Bedford Park houses, latterly at Blenheim Road.

The Bedford Park Society (a registered charity) was founded in 1963 to protect the amenities of Bedford Park

and has been successful in preserving the work of Shaw, Godwin, Wilson, May and others. Its ground-breaking initiative From Knowledge Comes Care places the Society at the forefront of conservation today with each of Bedford Park’s Listed Buildings to receive its own conservation log-book in the course of 2002. To learn more of the Society’s From Knowlege Comes Care initiative and how it is progressing, contact Peter Murray at peter.murray@bedfordpark.org
